Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Lift French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now won the season-opening cup on fourteen separate occasions.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side fired two times late to take a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to force the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the last 13 seasons.
