Critical Role Campaign 4 Introduces the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the city.

Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season are included.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.

What Defines the Combat Party

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to execute the target and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their status as key figures in the influential clan could assist the party enter places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his rescue and will now go with him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and The cleric betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This leaves them few options but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Planners parties.

Fans can expect learning which players will be where in the season’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on next week.
